Like most 12-year-old boys, Elias loves video games, chips and sandwiches. Born with life-threatening medical conditions that include a congenital heart defect and a chromosomal defect called DiGeorge Syndrome that impacts the development of several body systems, he is a friendly, easy-going kid who, when not playing games, loves hanging with his dog and reading.
When asked what he wished for, Elias asked for a TV and gaming system. And on May 11th, Make-A-Wish teamed up with Kretschmar® and Kirby Foods to make his wish come true – with a custom gaming room, new Nintendo Wii, television and sound system, video games, fluffy bean bag chairs and a hand-painted wall mural. Friends and family members attended the big surprise, and attendees snacked on Elias’ favorite foods – ham and turkey sandwiches.
“It’s extremely fulfilling to know that we’re able to make a difference in the lives of some really great kids and their families,” said Chuck Gitkin, VP of Marketing, Innovation and R&D, John Morrell Food Group. “That’s the most important thing. We’re very honored to support Make-A-Wish along with Kirby’s to help grant this wish.”
